The Three Broomsticks

This is my LEGO creation of The Three Broomsticks, the local inn for residents of Hogsmeade Village!

First seen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Three Broomsticks is the local pub for the residents of Hogsmeade Village, as well as the teachers and pupils of Hogwarts School.  Seen mostly during the winter, particularly in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, I have chosen to decorate the building with snow piled onto the roof, modelling the build on the recreation of the public house in Universal Studios, Florida.

The set is comprised of the building of The Three Broomsticks, and a snowy patch of grass with fur trees and a lamppost.  The lamppost has two signs on it; in the set, these would have 'Hogwarts School' and 'Hogsmeade Village' either printed on, or printed onto stickers for the builder to stick on themselves.

The entrance to the inn is a short corridor ending in a wooden door.  On the bottom floor, there is a long bar with empty glasses on it.  Behind the bar are two Butterbeer barrels, topped with golden taps, and a black tile that would have a chalkboard design on it to act as a menu.  There are two red wooden stools by the bar, and a roaring fireplace for visitors to warm up beside.  On the right hand side of the room, there is a large table for customers to sit at, which has a golden plate and goblets on it.  Next to this is a smaller, more intimate dining table with two chairs.

On the next floor, there is a curved wooden banister overlooking the room below.  A long chandelier hangs from the ceiling, illuminating both floors.  The room on the left is a bedroom, comprised of a single bed with patchwork blanket and a bedside table with a golden lamp.  The room next to this contains a brown couch with navy cushions, and a desk in front of this, on top of which is a candle and a copy of the Daily Prophet.

The building is finished off with snow piled on top of the roof, and two rather wonky chimneys, giving the inn a rather run-down, dilapidated look.  The mismatched colours and textures of the bricks I have used in the build were chosen to help enhance this vision.

The minifigures included in this set are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Horace Slughorn, Katie Bell and Rubeus Hagrid (unfortunately, LDD didn't have the mould used for Hagrid's body; and as such, I didn't want to create a minifigure-sized version, so decided not to include in this series of pictures.  Obviously, the minifigures pictured are just illustrations of who they would represent).  I chose these figures from the scene in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince where Katie Bell touches the cursed necklace after leaving The Three Broomsticks, were Harry, Ron and Hermione had been, talking to Professor Slughorn, before witnessing what happens to Katie.

The set contains 501 pieces, and I would estimate this as costing around £40.00 - £50.00, based off the last wave of Harry Potter sets, though of course, I'm not entirely sure how LEGO figure out their costings!

With the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, I thought that LEGO revamping and bringing back the Harry Potter theme would give younger fans who may have missed out on the latest wave of sets, a chance to get into this magical theme.

Thanks so much for viewing my project!  If you like my idea, please support this to help bring back the wonderful Harry Potter theme.  Any comments or improvements you have, I would love to hear.  Thank you!
