Similar to some other Algarvian beaches, Praia do Barril is a part of an island. The entrance to the island begins in a village of Pedras D’el Rei. After crossing a little bridge you can choose between two options to get to the beach – walk or…. take a miniature train (€1.50 one way ticket). If you’re travelling with kids, be assured that they will love the train trip! On the other hand, if you are not carrying much, it’s really worth to take the 1 km walk through the Ria Formosa Natural Park – a heaven for birds and small saltwater aquatic life. With my model you can remember all this.
