The Flying Dutchman Diorama
What's on offer here is a miniature (microscale) diorama of the Flying Dutchman, history's most famous ghost ship.
As a big fan of ancient boats and pirate ships, and especially scale models, i wanted to represent a model ship, and what could be more characteristic than a ghost ship ? That's why I chose the most representative one, the spooky Flying Dutchman !
Emerging from the waters like a revenant, this little scene is a good representation of the ship's ghostly character. Made for display, with phosphorescent sails, it would look great in the dark. Small details such as the door to the captain's cabin and the helm are also shown. The boat has 3 masts and an 8-gun battery. Of course, she has a frightening figurehead and a stern castle decorated with a ghost and two snakes...
And he proudly displays his pirate banner !
He is depicted on a wooden and gold table to which I wanted to give a "museum" aspect ; with various marine decorations: a sextant, a globe, a lantern and a compass. The longer sides of the table are adorned with oars, and the shorter ones with ship's masts. Sea monsters adorn each corner of the table.
I hope you'll enjoy this diorama, and that you'll give boat and model fans (and yourself, of course!) a lego one to build !
