This karakuri-doll tumbles down the stairs. The mechanism of this tumbling walker was based on a Japanese traditional automaton “Renri-Kaeri doll” during Edo Period. Original automaton used mercury for flowing weight resulting in smooth and elegant movements.
I wanted to rebuild the automaton with minifigs by LEGO Technic using steel balls for moving weights instead of deadly mercury.
The tumblings down movements were shown on the video.
