2001: A Space Odyssey Discovery One

"I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that".

Being one of the greatest films of all time, 2001: A Space Odyssey deserves immortalization in brick form. There have been many iconic moments and set-pieces originated by the film, and one of the most recognizable elements is the Discovery One ship, headed for Jupiter. Helmed by Dr. Dave Bowman and Dr. Frank Poole, the Discovery One's fascinating skeletal design has remained unique in the realm of science fiction spacecraft. I have a personal love for this film and this ship, and I would love to see it flawlessly produced by LEGO, and I know that fans of Stanley Kubrick and classic films would be in awe of a set like this.

This set includes the Discovery One ship, complete with removable communications dish, stand for sturdiness, and miniature EVA pod. Alongside the ship is a stand, displaying a command center run by the HAL 9000 computer, and presenting Dr. Bowman and Dr. Poole on either side.

The entire set totals roughly 500 pieces, it would be quite affordable for both fans of the film and fans of LEGO in general. The black box art used for Ideas sets would be perfect for the presentation of the ship on the packaging, evoking the mystery and intrigue of space that matches the film so well.
