Red Dragon Boat

Dragon boat originated in China. It is the representative of the Chinese dragon culture.

To commemorate Qu Yuan who was the greatest poet of the state of Chu in ancient China, Dragon boat races are held on a large scale in China every year.

After thousands of years of evolution, the activities of the dragon boat races gradually become a custom culture, a festival and an international sport game. The crew of a standard dragon boat is typically 22, comprising 20 paddlers in pairs facing toward the bow of the boat, 1 drummer at the bow facing toward the paddlers or standing at the middle of the boat facing toward the bow of the boat,  1 sweep standing at the rear of the boat. The Dragon Boat race is not only a sports and recreational activity, but also the more people's minds the spirit of patriotism and collectivism.

The Dragon Boat Festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month in the traditional Chinese calendar, which is the source of the festival's alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival ( Duanwu Festival ). It is one of three major Chinese holidays, along with the Spring and Moon Festivals, and it has become China statutory public holiday since 2007.

In the Pearl River Delta region of China's southern Guangdong Province, dragon boat race culture is very strong, especially in Shunde which is my hometown.

The red represents good luck, happy, warm, bold, passionate, morale, revolution. Symbolic meaning in Chinese calture, red has the function of expel evil.

I builded this Red Dragon Boat during the Dragon Boat Festival. I believe it can take the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Races culture to the world. Also, I believe that LEGO can produce more products with Chinese elements such as Dragon Boat.
