Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
What is it: This design has several parts to it, most resembling parts of the natural cycle of a koi.
Why did I build it: I designed this one off of a design that I made for a challenge here called Celebrate Japanese Culture but wasn't finished in time. So after a few revisions to my previous Koi design, I wanted to change and improve the design to have fewer repetitive parts. Like changing up parts of the lilypads, adding a seedling splashing into the water, as well as adding the diver and little tree trunk scene with a frog about to jump on a small lily pad. There are lots of harder-to-see details as well.
Details: Not all of the details in this piece can be seen from the pictures, so I listed them below:
- An articulated and base-supported koi fish for play and display
- A cluster of translucent spheres to represent koi eggs
- Small fish to represent recently hatched fish
- Various species of freshwater-related plants, like lilypads, tall grass, algae, and a lotus to name a few
- A tree stump with plants growing out of it and a frog on top about to jump on a small lilypad that's in a pool of water
- Air bubble-like pieces, by the koi's mouth and under the lilypads
- A scene that includes a small diver/explorer, and the golden top half of a diver
- Little hermit crabs, one in a shell and another in a small pop can
- Multiple coins were hidden among the rocks at the bottom of the pond
- A seedling making a splash
There are 1,200 pieces in this design.
Why I think it'll make a great Lego set: I think this will be a great inclusion to the botanical and nature sets that Lego has been producing.
