Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
Who hasn't heard the name Leonardo da Vinci? The most famous of the Renaissance men; an artist, a scientist, an inventor, centuries ahead of his time. He painted the worlds most famous painting, the Mona Lisa, he drew plans for flying machines, a helicopter, a diving suit, an automaton, and many others. Some may even be familiar with his sketch of a fighting vehicle, that most closely resembles what we would now call a tank. The vehicle would have be massive, with 32 cannons, and built of wood. It would have been far too heavy and impractical to have been of any effect on the battle field, and the hand powered drive would not have been able to effectively move its hulk.
Though highly impractical in any real sense, da Vinci coming up with this idea in the 15th century is still a marvel to behold. I decided to translate the idea into Lego, as the machine is still popular among history buffs, and engineers alike, not to mention anything related to Leonardo carries his awe with him. I also thought a set like this deserves to have it's original creator to be displayed along with it. I set up a little drafting table for the famous inventor, with a quill and ink bottle, and his sketch of the very machine you are building.
I think this would make a great set that would primarily be for display, but I designed it that you could play with it too. There are more than enough cannons, and cannonballs, along with four massive wheels to move it around whatever renaissance battlefield you want. I don't think we have seen da Vinci in Lego form yet either, and I think that it is time that was changed.
