Meet the Lego Hyacinth Macaw, using tensegrity! The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of the macaws and is native to central and eastern South America. In the model, the macaw is coming in to land with wings outstretched and tail feathers spread. It's alula (sets of feathers on the tops of the wings) are also spread out to reduce turbulence when landing.
I had originally built this for the Activity, Can You Tensegrity?. By clicking here you may view the original post and also watch a 15 sec. video of the model.
As an inexpensive set, it would make an elegant display piece floating on your desk or shelf.
