Greek House in Santorini

I have no idea if this is going well… I’ve seen other projects do better numbers, but I’m happy with the ones I have because we have reached 500. HURRAY!!!

I would like to keep you updated on my situation, I’m soon going on vacation and that means that I’ll have some time to create some videos to post in social media platforms to inform more people about this.

Also, a new GWP houses of the world have been announced. The building is a flower shop, so is not a part of the original collection. But is built in the same style, meaning that it will fit if you were to put all in a single street (would someone be interested in seeing that option? Please let me know).

With this update I wanted to give you a little bit of insight by showing you more of the design/thinking process that went on while I was planning this model.

First, I began sketching on paper before I jumped to Studio. I had an overall idea of what I wanted, since it’s based on other projects and had to be compatible, but I still needed to create a mood-board and test for different options (e.g. do I want the stairs on the right or on the left?).

 

After looking at a lot of houses in Santorini, taking notes and sketching, I was ready to start building on the computer.

Even then I had some trouble and kept having to check out photos, go back to my notes or sketch some more. In the end, I simply had to trust the process.

Funny detail, you can see that my notes are in Spanish and English because I use both daily.

 

And lastly, almost 500 supporters soon! Yeah!

Less than 3 weeks since I uploaded the project and more than 300 followers. I’ll say it is doing pretty great. In addition, you have saved the post as well showing your interest. Thank you very much for the help and support!

A lot of houses in Greece have either a stone floor inside, a path outside, or both. Some of these are really old and have been there for generations because stone is by far one of the most durable materials. The floors are made of cut out rocks placed just like a mosaic. And the space between them is white to match the rest of the building. This simple ancient technique leaves unequal surfaces because it used all types of rocks regardless of size or form.

The idea behind the path on the house is that with some simple tiles you can create your own design, completely unique and different form others (These are just some that I made). The set will come with extra pieces for this purpose.
