Laputa is the namesake flying castle from the 1986 film Castle in the Sky. The castle was the heart of a mysterious ancient civilization that disappeared a long time ago. This Civilization utilized a strange crystal that allowed them to create the flying castle along with the power to animate robots.
My model consist mainly of the majestic castle elevated by transparent bricks. It also features the films leads Pazu, Sheeta, and the giant robot they encounter in the castle's gardens. Of course the robot it reaching out a hand holding a flower as is in one of the films iconic scene.
What inspired me to create this model was my memories of watching the film as a kid. It was one of the first films I saw from the acclaimed Studio Ghibli. I wanted to express my love of the film in this model and I hope you all can appreciate it.
