Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
What is it?
This car is a model of the iconic Citroën DS 19. After 18 years of secret development, the Citroën was introduced to the public in 1955. A pioneer in automotive history, the sedan pushed the boundaries of technology at that time, being the first mass-produced car with disc brakes and hydropneumatic suspension. Not only did the Citroën help France recover from WWII by helping France gain popularity, but it also influenced later car designs with its innovative fiberglass roof and adaptive headlights.
Why did I build it?
After designing a simple station wagon and a boxy pickup truck, I decided to create something a little more challenging, but was still easily recognizable and appreciated all over the world. I realized, then, that the Citroën was the perfect choice. While my model is not an ideal representation of the car, it showcases all the curves and details of the sedan, including the body design, seats, dashboard, engine, and rear fender skirts.
Why do I believe this would make a great LEGO set?
In every single one of LEGO’s CREATOR EXPERT car sets, there is not a single traditional car with 4 doors. As designing the base of the rear door hinges without putting a wide pillar between the front and rear doors is particularly challenging, LEGO probably hasn’t come up with a way yet to make 4 doors look realistic on a car. But after much thinking, I finally found the solution, allowing you to open all 4 doors on this car.
