Totoro

This set is based on the Japanese animated movie 'My Neighbour Totoro' by Hayao Miyazaki.

In the movie you meet three friendly forest spirits, Totoros. They live under and inside a huge camphor tree. In this set, they are sitting in their favorite spot: at the very top of the camphor tree. 

The Totoros can be taken out of the tree and played with. In the movie, there is a charming sequence with the big Totoro standing at a bus stop in heavy rain. All of you who have seen the movie, will know that the umbrella and leaf are very important props!

The set includes

• O-Totoro, the big gray Totoro
• Chu-Totoro, the blue midsized Totoro
• Chibi-Totoro, the small white Totoro
• A leaf
• An umbrella
• A camphor tree

The set has a total of 82 pieces, most of the pieces are used for building up the camphor tree.

I designed this set because I love the movie and the Totoro characters. As a challenge I have tried to keep the number of pieces to a minimum, but still have characters you can recognize. The idea came to me when we were on holiday and had a tiny amount of Lego bricks around, and one of my children built a small Totoro using just a few bricks.

I also like the idea of having a Lego set that almost everyone can afford to buy, due to the small amount of pieces. And it is easily displayed due to its size. And cute!
