Glastonbury Tor is the remains of a tower dating back to the 15th century located in Somerset UK which is currently managed by the National Trust.
It is promonantly located atop a hill with views across England and into Wales beyond, and is a popular site for sightseers and spiritualists.
I have constructed this 2300 piece model in preperation for a model replicating a building in an anime, which itself used Glastonbury Tor as it's inspiration. Using many photos and panoramas as reference I hope I have been able to capture the details and overall structure of this wonderful site.
Some of the details have had to be modified and simplified based on standard lego pieces, notably the carvings that adorn the front of the tower, but I have tried to keep close to the spirit of the building.
The colour of the stonework of the tower is mainly a greyish brown which glows in the sunlight; I have tried to reflect this in my choice of colours whilst adding a more patchwork effect that helps highlight the building materials and provide a more interesting look than a single plain colour. In this I was trying to invoke more the feeling of the site rather than an exacting replica.
The model is divided into three sections deliniating the floors of the tower and allowing easier construction, and also contains a few internal details such as the information plaque, tiled floor with stone seats and the few upper floor supports that still remain.
I also included two visitors to the site, too provide scale and interaction.
I hope you find this model faithfully reminecient of the real location and can support it as well as my other ideas.
