Serpent Mound is a 900 year old effigy mound in southern Ohio. This 828 piece set is an accurate representation of how the mound looks today. Serpent Mound, constructed entirely out of dirt, is an architectural marvel with a number of curves and a fluid body. Each curve is represented in this set and built using strait-edge pieces to more accurately represent how the body flows across the landscape and to maintain the rounded mound aesthetic. Finally, the mono-color design replicates how the mound looks today covered by grass.
I built this set to both celebrate Serpent Mound's ascension through the world heritage site process and to showcase the generally underappreciated architectural achievements of North American First Nations. Serpent Mound would make a great Lego set since it is an engineering marvel and would provide for an excellent display. This set would also compliment other architecture Lego sets, such as the Eiffel Tower and Pyramid of Giza.
