City of Toronto

Toronto is located in southern Ontario, Canada. This is the economic capital of Canada and one of the most powerful cities of northern America with Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Toronto is 630,2 km², and approximately 2.800.000 people live in the city. It is located in the Golden Horseshoe Area which counts about 9.500.000 people. Toronto is established at the edge of Lake Ontario, one of the five main lakes of the Greater Lakes region of Northern America. Toronto is a beautiful city with many modern skyscrapers and with many beautiful architectures. It is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and one of the most comfortable city to live in! Toronto has many nicknames such as "the Queen City" because it is the biggest city of Canada, or "Hollywood North" which refers to city’s strong film industry or also "The 416" which refers to the original telephone area code for Toronto.

I wanted to represent Toronto with its most characteristic monuments, towers, places which are characteristic of Toronto Skyline: the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre, the Lake Ontario, the ÏCE Condos, the First Canadian Place, the City Hall, the Scotia Plaza, and the Pier 27.

  • The Rogers Centre which is the biggest stadium in Canada was built between 1986 and 1989 by architects Rod Robbie and Michael Allen. The stadium can receive a maximum of about 70 000 people. It is 86m high. The Rogers Centre is the headquarters of the Toronto Blue Jays, the city baseball team. Sculpture "The Audience" welcomes fans into the stadium. It is composed of 15 fan statues on the northeast and northwest corners of the stadium. They are the “keepers” of the Rogers Centre so to speak. And they are all meant to symbolize the different subsets of fans: you have the hecklers, the father and son, the muscle man, the hungry fan, and many others. The statues have a bronze-like finish. Renowned Canadian artist Michael Snow designed the statues. The sculpture reflects sports: all solidarity, all sharing, all love we have for a sports team, a country; all pride,… I represented "The Audience" with two gold Lego bricks at the back of the stadium.

  • The CN Tower is the uppermost tower of America and one of the highest in the world. It is about 553m high and that is taller than the One World Trade Center in New York, USA. The CN Tower was built between 1973 and 1976 by architect John Andrews. The CN Tower is the symbol of Toronto. It is located in the heart of Toronto. The tower overlooks the city. It is really touristic. Inside the tower, there is a glass floor, a panoramic restaurant. There is the Skypod (447m), an impressive panoramic where you can see all Toronto and also the US coast at the edge of the Lake Ontario. You can also do the Edge Walk on the roof of the CN Tower and turn around it for 30 minutes next to the empty space. The CN Tower is an emblem.

  • The Lake Ontario has an area of 18 960 km². It is the 12th biggest lake in the world. Thanks to the lake, Toronto has grown since its foundation in 1793. The lake (and Saint Lawrence River) makes the link with the Atlantic ocean and the rest of Canada for the exchange of goods. It is also touristic: we can do a lot of activities on the lake like go boating, go canoeing, go swimming because Toronto has several beaches… In winter, Lake Ontario is partially frozen. So, all the year, the lake adds charm to Toronto.

  • The ÏCE Condos is a complex of two residential high-rises. Completed in 2014 and 2015, the two buildings stand at 202m and 234m respectively, with 57 and 67 floors. The complex counts more than 1,300 apartments, 700 parking spaces, and its floor area is about 93,000 m². The two towers are typical of Toronto Skyline.

  • The municipal government of Toronto is established in the Toronto City Hall. Designed by architect Viljo Revell and engineered by Hannskarl Bandel, the architectural style is modernist. The building was built from 1961 to 1965 in order to replace the Old City Hall dating from 1899. The Toronto City Hall is located at Nathan Phillips Square. The building nickname is "The Eye of the Government" because it looks like a large eye in the air plan. The two towers are curved in cross-section with a white dome in between. The west tower is 79.4 meters tall and the east is 99.5 meters.

  • Pier 27 is a residential complex located in the Harbourfront neighborhood, at the edge of Lake Ontario. The architecture is impressive and is characteristic of the Toronto waterfront skyline. It was a good way to depict the Toronto waterfront.

  • The Scotia Plaza is currently the third tallest skyscraper in Toronto. It is 275m high and was completed in 1988. It is a commercial office complex located in the Financial District of the downtown core. The building contains about 190,000 m² of office space on 68 floors and 40 retail stores.

  • The First Canadian Place is the tallest skyscraper of Canada, located in the Financial District of Toronto. It serves as the global operational headquarters of the Bank of Montreal. It is 298m high (355m with the antenna), counts 72 floors, and a floor area of about 251,000 m².

Toronto is a beautiful city, with amazing architectures and many cultures. The city was selected by the EIU’s Global Liveability Ranking the 4th most comfortable city to live in the world in 2017.

I think this idea will be a great Lego Set of approximately 1500 Lego bricks, that many people could enjoy! Toronto is such an amazing, a beautiful city, and it is awesome to built it in Lego bricks! Thank you to all the supporters! Thank you to all the followers!
