Studio Ghibli, founded in Japan, is one of the most influential studios in the animation industry. It is renowned for its high-quality filmmaking and artistry. Their films have a unique, magical atmosphere that instantly made me a huge fan!

I wanted to create something that any Ghibli admirer, or even a LEGO fan unfamiliar with their work, would love to own. In my build, I aimed to capture the magic of their films, incorporating numerous references to their iconic masterpieces:
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind: Nausicaä with her glider, the Toxic Jungle and a Giant Warrior's skull.
  • Castle in the Sky: Pazu, Sheeta, the cave where they took shelter, and an old Laputian Robot.
  • My Neighbor Totoro: Totoro, the studio's mascot, along with Satsuki and some Soot Sprites;
  • Kiki's Delivery Service: Kiki, Jiji, and the bakery, one of the most recognizable locations in the film.
  • Princess Mononoke: Ashitaka, San, her cave with Moro resting on it, and several Kodama.
  • Spirited Away: Chihiro, No-Face, a buildable dragon form of Haku, the Sea Railway, and the entrance to the Spirit Realm, which hides the piggery and several rooms from the bathhouse, where you can spot some side characters from the film.
  • Howl's Moving Castle: Howl, Sophie, Turnip Head, and of course the titular castle, including some of its interior rooms.
  • And even more details waiting to be discovered =)
All of these elements were combined to create a Ghibli-esque and cohesive whole. The build features 10 regular minifigures and consists of approximately 4200 pieces. I believe it would make a fantastic and unique LEGO set, as well as a heartfelt homage to the beloved Studio Ghibli =)

Little update: I've added Porco Rosso and Ponyo! Check out the updates section =)
