Downton Abbey is the fictional Yorkshire home of the Crawley family in the Downton Abbey TV series. The programme is actually filmed at Highclere Castle in Oxfordshire, England. The house and grounds are the setting for much of the story which takes place between 1914 and 1927.
The model has a base 250 x 200 mm and it stands 220 mm tall to the top of the tower. It uses 2300 bricks which are mostly small 1x1 and 1x2 plates (a similar brick count to the Lego Architecture Robie House set). The roof of the house is fully detailed and features dozens of chimneys, flat and angled roofs and the large skylight which allows light into the middle of the real house.
I have tried to build an accurate model which captures the character of Highclere Castle, hopefully creating a model that will appeal to fans of both lego architure and Downton Abbey.
