Moreton Bay Fig Bonsai - Ficus macrophylla
We chose this species of fig, because the thick buttress roots of a Moreton Bay fig make it an exceptional choice of material to emulate in Lego. The aerial roots that grow down from the trunks create a beautiful look of strength and grace, as it sources out nutrients for growth. They are a formidable sight to behold, and well worth a creative build.
This particular specimen has had most of its leaves cut back as what is called partial defoliation to help promote smaller leaf growth in bonsai. This also cunningly keeps the cost of the model down too. Of course, the builder can choose to add more leaves if they wish.
We hope you enjoy seeing this creation, and in time hopefully you have one displayed in your home.
