This is the UFO SHADO Interceptor. The Interceptor was a spacecraft which operated from a base on the Moon. It is from the 1970's, science fiction series 'UFO' which was created by Gerry Anderson. It was a live-action series rather than one which used puppets, such as Thunderbirds. The model is to Lego Man scale and was initially created in Lego Digital Designer.
Gerry Anderson's work is a popular subject for modelers and science fiction fans. While there are many die cast models from Anderson's programs, there has never been a Lego franchise. This model is relatively easy to build but features a range of complex shapes which add to its interest.
