The Periodic Table
Here is an updated and I hope improved model of the Periodic Table and made for more play value. The changes I have made are:
- Each Element is now 10x10 rather than the previous 12x12 so the overall model is smaller
- I have added a tile with a sticker in the corner of each element, which can show the Atomic Number and Atomic Weight
- I have included an example pack so that when the model is built you can begin exploring where the elements are used. The example pack includes:
- A minifig with a metal detector so that the user can explore the location of metals and non-metals on the table
- A Gold crown
- A Silver trophy
- A Titanium rocket nose cone
- A banana – which includes nutrients such as Potassium
- A Window – made from silica so a compound of Oxygen and Silicon
- An Icicle and a water bottle – to allow discussion of different forms
- A streetlight and car headlights which can allow discussion of different gases used in lights and how they cause the colour of the light to change
- A brass trumpet – to allow discussion of alloying of metals
- A pencil graphite and a diamond – to allow discussion of allotropes
Other examples could be included of different metal coins, Olympic medals, a battery, a thermometer, a balloon, etc. Such examples could also be part of the play to find them around the house or classroom.
