Probably my favourite point and click adventure game of all time, Day of the Tentacle was released by LucasFilm's game development subsidiary, LucasArts. Throughout the late 80s and 90s, Lucasarts, along with Sierra Online, dominated the point and click adventure game scene, but it was LucasArts visual style that made them my favourite. The game features three playable characters, Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne, and a host of eccentric peripheral characters. Bernard's friend, Green Tentacle, witnesses Purple Tentacle drink some toxic waste that not only increases his mental capacity but also, gives himis two stubby apendages for arms... this is it all it takes for Purple Tentacle to decide to "Take Over The World!"
I've focused on Bernard and the two tentacles, as Bernard is the first character you get to play as in the game, after mad scientist, Fred Edison sends him and his friends through time in their Chron-o-John portable toilet time machines. I also added Green and Purple, as it is Day of the TENTACLE after all.
I've included details like his pen protector (nerd alert!), his sellotaped glasses, and used a little black banana element for his little hair curl. He's quite pose-able, and would form a great display piece!
I don't know whether anyone has ever released any action figures of the characters from DOTT, which seems like an oversight to me given how fabulous the character designs are. Lego gives us the opportunity to create these kind of builds, to fill in the gaps from our toy and figure collections! We already know from all the great Lego videogames out there, that game fans love Lego, but combine the game fans with AFOLs, and I imagine there's a whole lot of LucasArts game fans who love Lego as well.
