Modular Chinatown Plaza

The local Chinatown Plaza was the first Chinese place my family visited after immigrating from Hong Kong to US; so, this build is quite nostalgic to me. We would go to the plaza to browse the shops and to eat at the various restaurants. With Chinese New Year coming up, I wanted to create a modular build of a Chinatown Plaza. Quite often, we would go there to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Modular sets are usually side by side buildings; so, I thought it might be cool to have one with parallel buildings, like you would see in Chinatowns like San Francisco. There are four buildings, each with three floors. I tried to incorporate scenes of what I experienced growing up in Chinese culture.

In the middle of the plaza is a gateway leading to a floating teapot fountain. The 天下為公 sign on the gateway means "the world for everyone." The rear left building has a gift shop, a school and a ping pong gym. The front left building has two men playing Chinese Chess, an opera singer practicing with a man playing an erhu (a Chinese musical instrument) and a small relaxation spot. The rear right building has a food take out store, a kung fu dojo, an apartment and a boy flying a kite in a rooftop garden. The front right building has a barber shop and a meditation room. The 唐人街 sign on top of the sidewalk means "Chinatown". The build is about 2,840 pieces and comes with eight minifigures.

I hope you enjoy looking at this build as much as I enjoyed creating it and would also deeply appreciate your support. Thank you.
