This is my model of a viking ship used during the viking age between the 9th and 13th centuries. This model is more a skúta, a smaller ship class than a typical longship. It has nine rowing benches at each side and was used for trading and naval warfare likewise. Due to its size it could be carried over portages and used in inland waters and rivers, too.
I designed the model because I am a big fan of historical ships and of viking movies and tv shows. The model consists of 986 LEGO bricks. The yardarm can be mounted across at the top of the mast or at the lower end lengthwise. The canvas can be set for sailing, stored as a roll at the lowered yardarm or used as a tent for protecting ship and crew from rain and rough weather.
