LEGO’s highly successful modular building series has become a fan-favourite since the release of their first model, the Café Corner (Set 10182) in 2007. Many members of the LEGO fan community have since created their own additions to the impressive line-up of models by following the basic modular formula. Here I present my own third modular building, the Modular Post Office.
This model comprises three storeys of furnished interiors, as well as an equally detailed exterior, a postal van, and six minifigures.
The building’s exterior features ornate stone-carving, a pillar-supported façade, an ivy-covered wall, an open rooftop area, a parking area for the van, and a large postal service symbol above the building’s doorway.
The first storey features a reception area for customers furnished with three employee desks with glass screens. A seating area adjacent is provided, as well as a post box beside the front entrance, and a side door next to it leading out to the van parking area. A water dispenser is placed for the convenience of employees behind the desks, and at the back of the room is the staircase to the floor above.
On the next storey is the manager’s office, furnished with a wood panel wall at the back window, a desk with a green lamp, and a glass front wall and door. Beside this is the stamping and sorting station. This features a large shelving unit for sorting letters, beneath which is storage for more letters and packages. On the adjacent wall is a desk for stamping and sending off all approved mail. On the wall opposite is the stairway up to the final floor.
The final level is home to the radio control unit for the post office’s newly-introduced drone delivery service. This features a control panel and a shelf for various repair tools. The door beside the staircase leads out to the open rooftop where the drone’s are kept. This area comprises of a take-off and lading platform with warning lights, and series of solar panels which link into a large battery, which in turn links in to the final feature of the rooftop, the drone charging station.
I believe that this would make a great LEGO set because of its ornate architecture on the exterior, its fine detail on the interior, and its overall play and display value with the posable van, minifigures, and drones.
If you think this would make a good set, please hit the support button. If it reaches 10,000 supporters, LEGO will consider producing it as a real set. If you would like to share your opinion on the model, please feel free to post it in the comments above.
Thanks!
