Fresh from the success of my runner up entry Deep + High in the recent Lego Ideas 'THAT Holiday' competition*, I have been asked by many kind fans if I would consider making the build available as a pair of Lego Ideas bookends.
I hadn't thought of it as a bookend when I designed it, but I can see what they mean! I didn't want to have two of the same build, so I thought it would be fun if the other end was one of my other entries for that competition, the 'Moon Rock Climbing' build. I'd love the idea that Felicity Fearless finally gets her moment of glory, complete with her trusty Lunabretta jet bike and finding the only piece of green cheese on the Moon!
I was worried that the original design would be too flimsy to support books, so I've worked on them to make them sturdier. It's given me an opportunity to add some more details, but more importantly I've used the rebuild to highlight the effect of climate change on the beautiful coral reefs around the world, so I've added some bleached coral as well as the original discarded can that was in the original.
Sadly, in 2016, bleaching of coral on the Great Barrier Reef killed between 29 and 50 percent of the reef's coral, and many coral reefs are still under threat.
I hope you love these bookends. If you want a pair of fun and cool Lego bookends you know what to do!
*Thanks to all you lovely fans that voted for Deep + High. This is your chance to get your hands on it (and a bonus Moon Rock Climbing build) in real life!
