Maya Angelou Brickheadz

Next in my series of artists whose work influenced me, is Maya Angelou. She’s best known for her memoirs and civil rights advocacy, but it’s her poetry that I first experienced. Caged Bird is a poem I remember being particularly engaged with when I was young.

Maya Angelou’s list of accolades and achievements is enormous. She’s Pulitzer, Grammy, and Tony Award nominated, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and served on two presidential committees, she holds over 50 honorary degrees, and she is the first Black woman minted on a US quarter.

I think this Brickheadz will look great on a bookshelf—looks nice on mine!
