The Brick Reef Lighthouse was my first project to appear on Lego Ideas. It is modeled after a lighthouse here in Vermont called the Colchester Reef Lighthouse. Sadly, it has expired without achieving enough support. However, because of the wonderful feedback I was given I have renovated the lighthouse and completely re-done the exterior. I have also rendered all the photos for your viewing pleasure! Now, on to the features!
First off, I changed the island from a unrealistic brick foundation in the middle of the water to a uneven cliff base. I also added an extensive and very dangerous reef formation around the lighthouse. The water had to be extended in order to do this, but it adds so much more playability to the set. I increased the beach portion and added a dock for a boat that drops off supplies and picks up waste for the keeper and his wife. I also decided to change the colors for the lighthouse on the outside. I changed the color from white to blue. There are two different types of blue to show some wear on the boards. The inside is largely unchanged with the exception of a few color choices. All the same accessories are included as well as three minifigures and a dog.
This model uses exactly 3000 bricks, but I think that that could be brought down considerably. I already had to bring it down by 430 bricks so that I could submit it to ideas! I believe this would make an excellent set because of all its play features and it would be a must have for any Lego city. If you like what you see then make sure to click that support button, follow this project, and share it with everyone you know! Thanks in advance and brick on!
