Jungle Cruise

"First of all let me congratulate you on your excellent choice of Skipper. Of all the jungle cruises you could take in the Amazon, this one is undoubtedly the cheapest".

So recently I watched the movie Jungle Cruise and I really like it. For those of you who haven't watched Jungle Cruise yet, here is a summary:

“Dr. Lily Houghton asks skipper Frank to take her down the Amazon in his boat. As a team, they search for the Tears of the Moon, medicine from an ancient tree said to have the power to heal”.

I love the environment of the Amazon rainforest, and I tried to capture the scene of the boat flowing down the river. The project has 2998 pieces and 4 minifigures.

The Build:
  • For the base, I tried to make it look like it was coming out of a book. At first, I wanted it to come out of a map, but the map would either have to be really big (320 studs long) or be a small map that is basically like a baseplate.
  • I tried to give the boat an old, tattered look like it did in the movie. On the boat, you can see the name “La Quila” plastered on a 1x3 tile.
  • I recently have grown fond of many trees, and I added 5 of them in the LEGO build. I tried to make them close together to give it a forest kind of look.

The Minifigures:
  • The first minifigure is Dr. Lily Houghten (played by Emily Blunt), a doctor who seeks the tears of the moon to help make medicine. I gave her accurate clothes in the movie, including pants, which are quite important to the film. I also gave her the arrowhead she uses to find the tree.
  • The second minifigure is her brother, MacGregor Houghton (played by Jack Whitehall). I gave him a terrified expression because he is quite scared of the Amazon and just wants his sister to be okay.
  • The third minifigure is Frank, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. As the skipper, I gave him a captain's hat and a determined expression.
  • The final minifigure is Aguirre (played by Edgar Ramírez) who plays one of the villains in the movie. He has the curse of never losing sight of the river, or else he will be consumed by the forest. He also seeks the tears of the moon to turn himself back to his regular human state.
