The Stone Age Returns

About 40,000 years ago, Neanderthals disappeared from the planet, leaving only their bones, tools and caves. But, what if one small colony never died out? Undiscovered, unharmed and essentially free to roam. That is, before Captain Phillipe Flint and his team of archaeologists stumble upon a cave, a cave they thought had been abandoned many centuries ago. They were wrong...

With spears at the ready, rocks in position, the unsuspecting archaeologists were about to experience the Return of the Stone Age!

The topic of the Stone Age, our pre-history and the evolution of humans is often an interesting and somewhat unknown or mysterious topic. This Lego Ideas set looks back on that time, our ancestors and explores how they lived, what they wore, the tools and technology they used and of course the creatures that once roamed the planet.

I built The Stone Age Returns set as I wanted to try something that hadn’t been done before and to challenge myself to see if I could use modern bricks to create a pre-historic world. I also wanted to do something that would be interesting, fun and educational.

In terms of why I think it would make a good Lego Ideas set, The Stone Age Returns set covers those three qualities mentioned above. Builders of the Lego Ideas Stone Age Returns set will get the opportunity to build, create and play with a Neanderthal cave, familiarising themselves with Neanderthal clothing, tools and display of cave art as well as some of the now extinct animals (woolly mammoth and saber-toothed cat skeletons). The Lego Ideas Stone Age Returns set celebrates our ancestors and their way of life, which is why I believe this set would make a fun, exciting and purposeful addition to the Lego Ideas collection.

Seen this before?

You may have seen this before. April last year, I submitted my original Lego Ideas Stone Age design. The design was a good start but it lacked playability and a proper cave. The new design now features the cave at the back and the introduction of the archaeologists. The comparison image is below. The original submission has now been taken down to avoid confusion between the two sets. I would like to thank you all for your support thus far and I hope you all like the redesigned Stone Age Returns Lego Ideas set!

Thank you
