Keep track of your time with a functional Lego clock!
Time is an essential part of life, it
determines everything. I recently saw a calendar here on Lego Ideas and
realised that that being able to keep track of the days in such a way is great.
But it hit me that there is, as of writing, no working Lego clock. I thought it would
be ideal for Lego lovers all over the world to keep track of their time on
their very own Lego clock. Although it
could be used as a display piece as well of course.
The build is a combination of technic bricks
(for the mechanism that makes the clock work) and normal Lego bricks for the
structure. A perfect synthesis of the two.
The mechanism is enclosed in a classic-style
bodywork and can be accessed by opening the doors on the back. The doors enable
you to start the clock and replace the batteries. The lever to turn the
batteries on is shown on the pictures with the back side of the clock opened.
The black technic beam (with little handle added to it) can be used to turn it
on and off. It can easily be accessed through the doors.
The build consists of approximately 2.800
pieces and has the following dimensions:
- Height: 65 studs (52cm)
- Depth: 36 studs (28,8cm)
- Width: 32 studs (25,6cm)
(So, it is a decent sized clock…)
Furthermore:
- 100% Lego
- 12 hour display with hour and minute hand
It is possible to customize the scene in the
room with the pendulum.
If this reaches 10.000 supporters it might be
possible to have a Lego clock on your desk in the future! So support if you
like this Idea and share it with your friends and family!
*I’ll post more pictures and the mechanical
part as an update. If there is anything you’d like to see, just give a comment
and I’ll try to supply.
**I unfortunately have no videos/rendered
videos due to a personal lack of parts to physically build it and nu
understanding how to render videos. So I’m sorry for that inconvenience. But I
tried to research this as much as I could so that it is mechanically sound.
