US- Steam Train (Western Locomotive) Thatcher Perkins (own built model MOC)
Wheel set up 2 - C
In search of attractive locomotives, which I could build from Lego elements, I came across the web on the so-called Thatcher Perkins (Western Locomotive).
In 1863, the number 147, built by the engine master of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B & O), first entered service and was in use for 29 years.
I was immediately enthusiastic about this locomotive, especially the design, so I had decided that such a beautiful steam locomotive would have to be built from Lego elements.
Like the original, the Lego Thatcher Perkins is equipped with a 2-C axle landing gear which of course also works smoothly with the Lego model (in all turns and curves).
The Lego Thatcher Perkins is executed in the supporting frame in the six-nep width.
In the Lego model two drive motors "Lego train motors" were used, which are controlled by the Lego Power Function Control System. The Lego motors are both installed below the tender.
The use of LEDs was not necessary, because at that time such steam locomotives had no electric lights.
The Lego Thatcher Perkins adapts perfectly to the Lego railway system and is executed approximately in the scale 1: 40/45.
Hope that this model will find enough LEGO friends and hope in receiving of support etc
wish to all the best - bernopi
