Iustitia is the personification of justice in ancient Roman mythology. Nowadays often referred to as "Lady Justice", she represents equality and fairness in the administration of the law. Through the millennia Lady Justice has been depicted in many different art forms - among them sculpture, which is one of the oldest and most durable forms of art in human history. To this day, statues of Iustitia rank among the most well-known sculptural depictions in the world.
Classical sculpture usually portrays Iustitia wearing a toga-like robe and featuring three important symbols: a blindfold, balance scales and a sword. The blindfold represents the "blindness" of justice, the impartiality and objectivity of the law. The balance scales symbolize equality and the just weighing of facts, evidence and arguments to decide a verdict. The sword represents the power, authority and protection provided by the law.
My LEGO Ideas project depicts a marble statue of Iustitia on a pedestal. In my opinion this would be a great set for home decoration, similar to the popular marble and bronze mini statues of this kind. The model's overall height is 33 cm, the total part count is 544. (This project had been created in September 2023 already. At that time, about 96 % of the pieces used had been available in the respective colours used.)
