This set is a reconstruction of Ursa (Latin for “the bear”) a working replica of a 14th century siege machine designed to over throw castles. The mighty machine measures 53cm high, 47cm wide and can launch a projectile over 4 ft.
Ursa is one the world’s largest historically accurate trebuchets measuring 18 metres high and weighing a colossal 22 tons. It is capable of throwing boulders, fire balls and spreading disease over castle walls. In the past the mere sight of a trebuchet caused the bravest of knights to surrender.

Being a Trebuchet Master is my proudest achievement. I wanted to combine my dream job with my love of Lego.
I am the 13th qualified Trebuchet Master out of 15 currently in England so have been able to study a real siege machine up close. I wanted to challenge myself by building my very own trebuchet.
I want my model to be as accurate as possible including its functionality.

The winders scurry up the squirrel wheels and wind the rope on to the axel.
The rope pulls down the throwing arm, raising the heavy counter weight.
The trigger is hooked in to place and the projectile can be loaded.
Get to a safe distance and shout “HAVE A CARE!” As you pull the chain and send the boulder hurtling over castle walls.

I believe this would be a great addition to the existing Castle and Medieval Village sets. The real Warwick Castle Trebuchet stands at 18 metres tall but the lego version still towers over castle walls and houses. The sight of it on your doorstep would have the bravest King shaking in his boots.

The set has some great interactive features allowing builders to recreate ‘The Legend of the Trebuchet’ show at Warwick Castle; launch characters from the stage, unleash the burning barrels and tip the cannon to roll the cannon ball out.
Includes 9 Minifigures: the Trebuchet Master, 4 trebuchet winders, Harold the bowman, Sam, Mel & Clem.

The piece count is 1470, the same year the Legend of The Trebuchet show is set.
