Banjo and Kazooie together have been collecting puzzle piece 'jiggies' in the hearts of 90's kids everywhere for decades. This articulated, action-figure-scaled build features the inseparable duo of Banjo the kind-hearted honey bear and Kazooie the sassy breegull — who team-up to protect Spiral Mountain and its inhabitants from the evil witch Gruntilda.

The wacky, musically-inspired platform game *Banjo Kazooie* and its sequel *Banjo Tooie*, introduced by Rareware in 1998 and 2000 on the Nintendo 64, dropped players into a colorful, polygonal world full of bouncing collectibles, unusual locations, goofy friends, and rhyming enemies. The soundtrack, animations, puzzles, humor, and plot were so memorable and unique that the game still sticks in my mind to today. I wanted to honor Banjo-Kazooie, and my awesome memories of other 90's platform games, by creating this brick-built, posable, action-figure of the iconic duo.

The model, measuring around 6 inches tall, is posable at Banjo's neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and hips as well as Kazooie's neck, waist, and wings for a total of 16 points of articulation -- allowing builders to recreate their favorite poses, without sacrificing the style and personality that so defined the games. My 210 piece Lego build tries to recreate the original polygonal design of Banjo and Kazooie, and so I used a variety of brick connection techniques to place slopes and tiles, facing unusual directions, all over the model. The action-figure scale of the model encourages builders to constantly play with the model and its articulation, and I have had a lot of fun posing the duo on the included jiggy puzzle piece stand and creating small collectibles out of spare bricks for Banjo to grab and smash, and for Kazooie to tease.

Banjo-Kazooie represents a critical moment in videogame history, when the exploration of virtual 3D worlds — especially a world so filled with personality — was a totally new experience. The care that went into the creation of the Banjo-Kazooie universe was obvious to anyone who played the game, and it still ranks on many lists of the greatest games of all-time. This is a perfect moment to recognize these unique characters with this Lego build!
