"Frogger" is an exciting board game based on the classic arcade game that can be built from LEGO. The game has always fascinated me because it captures the feeling of hectic street crossing and skillful maneuvering across rivers in a playful way. I used to love playing it on the PC against my friends, and the mix of strategy and excitement always captivated us.
Rules of the game
Aim of the game:
The aim of the game is to be the first player to move your three frogs to the opponent's baseline.
The game board:
The playing area is divided into 8x8 fields, with the middle four rows showing a river and the two outer rows representing two car roads. At the edges of the two roads are the baselines of the two players, on which the frogs begin their exciting journey. To keep the cars on the roads and the beams on the river safely in their respective rows, the individual rows are separated from each other by thin plastic barriers.
Setup:
To begin the game, the two cars and the four bars are placed on the starting squares on the game board. Each player now receives their three frogs, which they place on their baseline, and the game can begin.
Gameplay:
The players take turns. The player rolls the dice and then carries out one or more actions based on the result of the dice.
Movement points (1-3): Move frogs (one square forward/sideways) or cars/bars (any distance in the row).
Frog on bar: Movable if the square is free. Bar with fly symbol: Frog moves two squares further.
Cars: Can send frogs on roads back to the baseline.
Bars: Frogs on bars in the river are sent back to the baseline.
End of the game:
The player who is the first to move all three frogs to the opponent's baseline wins.
