Human Skeleton

I was a bit surprised there wasn’t already a human skeleton set (until I tried designing one perhaps!) The narrowest I could realistically model the hands and feet set the overall scale; this still generated quite a big model - 64cm (25”) tall, or about 1:2.5. I found plenty of parts that were ideal for using and worked hard to get the proportions right, but it took a lot of development.

All elements of the model move pretty much like the real thing, including limits on movement; I didn’t want to risk it ever looking like it had had an accident!

Although the (otherwise excellent) software used to model it doesn’t allow flexible elements like the ribs to be accurately manipulated between their ends, in reality they settle quite nicely. This is hopefully shown by the photographs of the physical version I’ve built (apologies for the multi-colours). It can be suspended, sat cross-legged etc.

It has less than 700 parts but is a challenging build, particularly the skull. I think it would particularly appeal to those involved in healthcare (or Hallowe’en!), or anyone who would find the chance to essentially build a working model of themselves interesting.
