Princess Mononoke was first released in cinemas in 1997. The story about the fight between exploitative humankind and ancient nature spirits thrilled audiences and is still one of the most popular films from Studio Ghibli to this day.

While playing a rather passive role in the movie, the adorable Kodama spirits quickly became a fan favorite. They are a lovely mascot of the film and an icon of Studio Ghibli in general, almost as famous and recognisable as Totoro from "My Neighbor Totoro".

With my project I wanted to create a small tribute to these cute little fellas. The Kodama I've built is approximately 20 cm tall, which I would consider "life-size". It stands on the branch of a tree and curiously observes a few interesting moths that buzz through the night air and a bug sitting on a leaf in front of him.

I hope you like my little homage to the wonderful world of the tree spirits.
