The Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car is a legend in racing. #63 came first in 24h of Le Mans in 1989. I chose to build this Mercedes because Lego has done few Mercedes sets and also no older Le Mans capable cars.
This build has some interesting techniques used (best one is used for the tail lights!) and is a complicated build, reason being that it is not 6 studs wide like the older SC format, nor is it 8 studs like the new one, but it is 7 studs wide. This is to ensure the edge of the wheels is aligned with the body of the car. There may be some excessive use of parts or parts of the car missing, but this is because I built on my computer what I built physically, and when I build physically I have limited part use. I don't like modifying my models digitally as I want to keep it original.
I hope you guys find the build interesting and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
P.S. I rendered the images with Stud.io for those out there that do not know how to. This software is free and so is the rendering feature that comes with it.
