Why I built this Kay Bojesen Monkey
Last year, in my mid-thirties, I rediscovered LEGO for myself. It helps me to leave behind the challenges of the last few years and the worries of everyday life and to be fully in the moment for a while.
Kay Bojesen's monkey not only reminds me of many wonderful trips to Denmark, it also embodies the essence of Danish design for me. Every time I see this little wooden monkey on my desk, it makes me smile.
I really wanted to try to build him out of LEGO. After trying my hand at recreating the wooden Atlantic Puffin from our windowsill last winter, this is now my second own creation. I hope you like it.
Why it would make a great LEGO set
This creation brings together two iconic Danish brands. Not only do they both have their origins in making wooden toys, but today they both represent Denmark all over the world and bring joy to so many homes.
I am sure that this Kay Bojesen monkey made of LEGO could be a great decoration in many homes or a special souvenir from a trip to Denmark. The movable arms and legs make him fun to play with. So a nice creation for young and old.
It will certainly bring a smile to many people's faces and perhaps bring back fond memories. Just like the little wooden monkey on my desk.
