A simple, yet endlessly captivating puzzle game, Tetris has rightly earned its place in the video game hall of fame. Created by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, it was first run on an Electronika 60, before being ported to the IBM PC the following year. Since then, it has become the most ported game ever, published on over 65 platforms.
Maybe the most iconic release, and the one Pajitnov felt closest to the spirit of his original creation, was for the Nintendo Gameboy - that's where I first discovered the game and spent many enjoyable (and frustrating!) hours trying to beat my high score!
The one thing the Gameboy release lacked was colour though, which is what really makes the game pop! My LEGO tribute uses the official Tetris colours for each of the 7 blocks, or Tetrominoes, and captures the moment where a descending I-bar is about to complete several rows! It would look great as a display piece for a gaming station and would be the perfect addition to any games room. There's even a little Easter egg hidden in the base, revealed by removing a plate; a concealed Z-bar!
