West Side Vibes

Welcome to the west coast. Sun, beaches, palm trees, surf, fast cars, and good vibes.

Model history:

On stage are two independent buildings inspired by the shotgun house style, like the one that is part of the preservation resource center in Santa Monica. Although the style is most common in the South, it spread quickly across many states and beyond their national borders.

It is more particular to see these houses on a single story or adjacent to others in a double shotgun style. They also exist in two stories, and this is where I have decided to choose a double shotgun. One classic converted into a garage and another in two stories for housing.

It should be added, that since the mid-20th century, surfing has been an important part of California thanks to the influence of Duke Kahanamoku and American tourists who knew Hawaii, and one of our characters in this model is a big fan of it.

A Hot rod model could not be missing, since they first appeared in the late 1930s in southern California, where races were held with modified cars that ran northeast of Los Angeles.

Description:

The model includes two shotgun-style buildings with gable roofs on a 16x32 base compatible with official modular buildings. The turquoise building is a three-story house with a kitchen, bedroom, toilet, and attic. The Orange building contains two floors where the ground floor is for parking the hot rod and tools, and the upper floor for more elements of the small workshop, such as a motorcycle that can be built from scratch.

Some elements like the Italian coffee maker are small details of the minifigures' special tastes in this house. The Hot rod can be modified with few parts and turn it into a convertible.

The classic palm trees in this area provide shade from the high summer temperatures. The model contains 4 minifigures, two seagulls and a dog.
