Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
This is my build of The Sword in the Stone. It includes a diorama-style base with a small hill on the left and a tree on the right that overhangs the central stone with the sword stuck inside. I did not want the main points of the build to be lost in an array of colors for the ground, so I went with dark green grass with some patchy snow all over the build as well as a few smaller rocks to add some texture. I used a light purple color for the leaves to add some of that fantasy look I wanted while still keeping it grounded in a little bit more realism. I used sharper parts and techniques to accomplish the medieval vibe, then used a few well-placed round parts to smooth areas out, like on the main stone and with some snow. The tree was the hardest part of this build; trying to get it big enough to add some much-needed height but not too big where you lose the important details. It was diffidently a challenge, but I am glad I could have it overhanging the stone without blocking visibility. I am very happy with how the two Minifigures came out with their weapons and accessories, especially with the pop of red I incorporated with the shield and plume.
I have always wanted to build a battle over The Sword in the Stone. In total, this is at least my fifth time building a Sword in the Stone build, but it is the first time I have seen it transfer over the gap of moc to a Lego Ideas build. I also wanted to create a nice display piece with plenty of detail without it being this massive build like I was used to. This comes in at 498 pieces, where I tried to make every part matter and pack in as much fun as possible.
I believe this has the opportunity to expand the reach of Lego to even more adults. It is the perfect desktop display or a small piece to keep on a bookshelf. Not having a huge footprint or a large price tag will give many more people the option to enjoy this hobby that we all love. It does not only have to be for display either; the conflict of the figures can lead to battle after battle over The Sword in the Stone.
I hope you enjoy my creation as much as I do! Thank you for the support!
