Make It Move Inventor Kit

I have designed a unique kit that can build 11 different working models to teach and inspire LEGO builders about movement and mechanisms. It covers all the areas of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) by looking at some well-known inventions and discoveries by a group of famous inventors.

As a schoolteacher I made wooden mechanical toys called Automata, and for years now as a LEGO fan I love to build moving models using a mix of LEGO system and Technic. I’ve had great fun developing the ideas for this kit and hope that it will encourage others to experiment with the mechanisms used and ultimately then try out some ideas of their own. It will teach you the basics of using cranks, gears, levers, cams, pulleys and chains to produce a wide range of movements all operated by a simple hand crank.

My idea is that you will not be able to build all 11 designs at the same time, but much like a Creator 3 in 1 kit, it's designed to be taken apart and rebuilt into the different models. I’ve designed the models to be made in pairs, as there are two models representing each of the 5 areas in S.T.E.A.M. Once all the models are made then my hope is that you will be inspired to then have a go at making up your own moving models using all the pieces from the set, and the mechanisms you have learned about. The set contains around 1200 pieces.

The set contains one minifigure of "Steve the Inventor". Steve wears a fancy hat and a beard to make himself look like an eccentric inventor, but really underneath his outfit he's just a regular guy who loves to play and invent with LEGO bricks!
