Ready Player One
“This is the Oasis. It's a place where the limits of reality are your own imagination”.
Ready Player One is a 2018 American science fiction action film based on Ernest Cline’s novel. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and the cast has some of most famous Hollywood actors: Tye Sheridan (Wade Watts), Olivia Cooke (Samantha Cook), Ben Mendelson (Nolan Sorrento). The film is set in 2045, where much of humanity uses the OASIS, a virtual reality simulation, to escape the real world. The protagonist is Wade, a teenage orphan that finds a way to obtain the easter eggs (keys) of three challenges inserted by the OASIS creator James Halliday, before the evil corporation Innovative Online Industries (IOI) of Nolan Sorrento can do so. During the film he use the avatar Parzival and he is helped by Samantha (Art3mis) and his friends.
The build
- The model consists of 2936 parts.
- There are 7 minifigures: Wade Watts, Samantha Cook, Parzival, Art3mis, IOI pilot, Nolan Sorrento (with Cataclyst bomb), James Halliday (with three levels keys).
- Thera are 3 vehicles: the Watts’ van, the Art3mis’ motorcycle, the IOI pilot’s car.
- The model is made of 4 dioramas, that represents different locations: the Stacks, the Racetrack (first key), the Overlook Hotel (second key), the Adventure game (third key). They can be united or separated.
- The first one represents Wade inside his old van while he is connected to OASIS. There is also a container, a wrecked car and two mobiles living stocked one on top of the other. The van can be open on both sides and the roof can be removed.
- The second one represents the Racetrack in which partecipate many iconic vehicles. There are two roads in different levels and the binaries of a railway. Art3mis uses the Akira's motorcycle. While the IOI car rolls over due a trap, she collects all credits on the road.
- The third one represents the living room of Overlook Hotel, in which the characters look for the clues to find the second key.
- The fourth one represents the frozen Castle Anorak on Planet Doom, where Parzival plays with the game Adventure on Atari 2600. Sorrento is ready to detonate the Cataclyst bomb, but fortunately Parzival uses the extra life coin to stay alive in OASIS. In the end he meets the Halliday’s avatar, who holds the three keys of the OASIS to open the final gate.
