NASA ER-2
Thanks for checking out my latest project!
The NASA Earth Resources 2 (ER-2) is a derivative of the Lockheed U-2 and is used for high-altitude civilian research including Earth resources, celestial observations, atmospheric chemistry and dynamics, and oceanic processes. It was designed by Clarence "Kelly" Johnson, who is also credited with designing the infamous SR-71/NASA 844. This incredible feat of engineering can fly at 70,000+ feet (21,300+ m) at about 500 mph (805 km/h). It has a single seat cockpit and has a massive wingspan of 103 feet (31.4m) while only being 63 feet (19.2m) in length. Pilots say it is extremely hard to land and take off because of the bicycle like landing gear. Landings are assisted by another pilot at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour (190 km/h) in a chase car.
My reproduction in LEGO form of this incredible airplane only consists of 838 pieces. The entire set concept would include 1270 pieces. With that, there are four minifigures, one pilot and three ground crewmen. There is an air stair to reach the cockpit, a service car as well as a chase car for landings.
I hope that I have done this incredible plane justice and if you think I have then please hit that support button today! Also don't forget to follow and most importantly share this project with everyone you know! Thank you all in advance and brick on!
