Welcome to your dream LEGO supercar!
We often tend to overlook the perfect design and fascinating complexity of everyday cars: with a seamless turn of the steering wheel and a push on the gas pedal, we can go almost anywhere. So, as a teenager today, I show to you: The Supercar! This model serves to showcase these amazing vehicles by including the major features you'd find in a real car: a V8 engine, Drive-Neutral-Reverse (D-N-R) selector, gearbox, independent suspension, detailed bodywork, and, of course, a comfy interior. The building process is also modular, similar to that of a manufacturing process, making the building experience enjoyable. This car has great playability while serving as an excellent display model for everyone. What could be better? Hop right into the driver’s seat and take over the roads!
An Overview of the Structure of the Car
Before you start driving, please keep in mind how it works!
V8 Engine:
The pistons in the engine jump up and down whenever the car moves. The speed of the pistons’ movement depends on the D-N-R Selector and Gearbox.
Drive-Neutral-Reverse (D-N-R) Selector:
The joystick located between the two seats resembles the D-N-R selector:
- Forward - Drive
- Backward - Reverse
- Middle - Neutral
3-Speed Gearbox:
This is only activated in the Drive position. By turning the gear shifter, the car shifts from one gear to another:
- Clockwise - Shift up
- Counter-clockwise - Shift down
Quick note, the D-N-R selector locks in Drive position when Gears 2 or 3 are activated (to unlock, move the shifter back to Gear 1). The gear shifter also locks when the D-N-R selector is not in the Drive position.
Other Functions:
- All-wheel independent suspension
- Steering wheel that can steer the front two wheels
- Rear Wing operated by a rotatable gear
Cosmetics:
- Beautiful and modular body
- Luxurious interior
- A foldable ceiling provides easy access
- An opening frunk to see the inside
Dimensions: 18.25 inches (46.3 cm) long, 9 inches (22.9 cm) wide, and 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) high
All in all, this car is realistic, fascinating, fun to build, and makes driving enjoyable!
A Brief Backstory:
Since I was four, I’ve always looked beyond LEGO instructions by analyzing the mechanical functionality of my LEGO toys. This inspired me to create my own designs, especially cars, using spare pieces. When I was 12, I decided to take my car creations to the next level: not just capturing the external beauties but also the essential mechanical components. With that, the journey of creating this model begins! Although I started building in November 2018, the real progress began in April 2020 during quarantine. What was supposed to take months stretched into over two years of revisions and redesigning for perfection. Now I finally and proudly present my LEGO supercar—a culmination of over two years of effort and dedication—to everyone!
