The Gruffalo

"A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.  A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

Walk further into the deep dark wood, and discover what happens when the quick-thinking mouse comes face to face with an owl, a snake and a hungry gruffalo..."

This is based on Julia Donaldson's magical rhyming tale brought to life by Axel Sheffler's captivating illustrations originally published by Macmillan Childrens Books.   http://www.gruffalo.com

The Gruffalo Lego Set

Walk Mouse through the scenes from the story meeting the characters. The first scene has a tree with the fox's underground house and rocks. On the other side of the tree is the owl's tree top house with a branch perch and a log across a trickling stream.  Next is the snake's log pile house, a tree stump and the edge of a lake with lilly pads. Can you spot the mushrooms, flowers, grass and the insects in the tree?

The final scene is a clearing where Mouse meets the Gruffalo.

         "But who is this creature with terrible claws

          and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws?

          He has knobbly knees, and turned-out toes,

          and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose.

          His eyes are orange, his tongue is black;

          he has purple prickles all over his back.

          Oh help!  Oh no!  IT'S A GRUFFALO!"

Whilst I originally made additional birch and pine forest trees, the set has been edited down to try to distill just the essence of the Gruffalo story into an affordable set of 1,460 pieces that can be played with as you read along to the story or have pride of place on display.
