The Pantheon (Architecture theme)

Architecture style model of the Pantheon, a Roman temple to all gods. It was built under the reign of Hadrian in 125 AD. This temple, designed by Apollodorus of Damascus, was the reconstruction of another Pantheon, built in the time of Augustus, that perished in a fire.

It has the largest concrete dome in the world, which was covered by bronze until firstly the byzantine emperor Constans II in 663 AD and then Bernini in 1623 teared it off the dome.

For many historians the Pantheon is the zenith of Roman architecture, for its perfection, beauty and also for the fact that it has survived almost 1900 years to plunderings and earthquakes like no other building in Rome has done it.
