"My good, it's full of bricks!"
This set – Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey is based on a timeless sci-fi movie called 2001: Space Odyssey directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1968.
This set mainly contains an iconic Hotel Room Anomaly where David Bowman made his evolutionary transformation from a human being into a full-brick Minifigure!
The set also includes the Monolith, a stone stand, the Eva pod model, accessories and 6 Minifigures, exclusively with the Stanley Kubrick Minifigure itself!
A Space Odyssey is iconic in several scenes, that's why I decided to take inspiration from the movie itself, to summarize the set as a cycle, and that's why the set includes several models inspired by this movie.
I focused mainly on the ending room in which the protagonist will experience his life and change into something unique. In this scene, several items that I included in the set are replaced in the room. The Eva pod appears here as a man-made spacecraft, and the Monolith appears as a gate to another dimension. Also you can change four life stages of the protagonist (David Bowman) in the room model - his younger self in a space suit, his older self in a bathrobe, his old self in a nightgown, and his reborn version as a Star Child! Part of the room model is also bed for Dave where he can rest on his long journey!
The interior of the Eva pod model includes a board panel and seat for an astronaut. The exterior includes a removable rooftop, an opening back door, two moveable mechanic gloves, and a red transparent round brick 1x1 featuring a shipboard computer Hal9000.
A Stone stand is inspired by the opening scene. You can put the Monolith in the middle and add the ape man as he stare at it and absorb its energy and knowledge. The base also includes the skeleton of a prehistoric animal and two bones.
I add model of the Discovery One spaceship which is super iconic for 2001: A Space Odyssey. Discovery One has a mission to observe and study Jupiter. Anyway the most dramatic scenes happened right on the spaceship! With this model I also add the Minifigure of Dr. Frank Poole who is very important for the plot on the Discovery One.
List of Minifigures & accessories included in the set:
- A Minifigure of director Stanley Kubrick with a cup of coffee and a mobile camera
- A Minifigure of ape man with bone, a Minifigure has an alternate face
- Four Minifigures (versions) of Dr. David Bowman:
• iconic version of David Bowman in a red spacesuit with a silver briefcase.
• an older version of David Bowman in a dark-blue bathrobe with cutlery.
• an old version of David Bowman (this Minifigure is part of the bed model, only torso with hands & head).
• version of David Bowman as a "Star Child" in a transparent bubble on the stand.
- A Minifigure of Dr. Frank Poole in yellow spacesuit.
This worldwide famous novel about the development of human existence would be a great choice for the world of bricks. Not only these corners Dave hasn't explored yet, but 2001: A Space Odyssey could proudly present the sci-fi genre that we can never get enough of in Lego form!
So if you're a fan of Kubrick's work, you love science fiction or you're just interested in my model, don't hesitate to support 2001: A Space Odyssey by your star vote!
